Going to a health club or swimming pool, splashing around in the water can be an unforgettable experience both for you and your baby. Besides it is great fun, swimming and playing around in the water can help build your toddler’s self-confidence. The only worry is that your baby may poop in the water. Having a small accident means the whole pool has to be thoroughly cleaned, so it is advisable to wear a swim nappy. This way you can also be sure that seawater and sand will not irritate your baby’s skin.

Forget about going to the pool in normal nappies instead of a swim nappy. Disposable nappies soak up water in seconds, and they can be really heavy. The core of disposable nappies can also be very dangerous if it falls in the filter system of the pool. There is also the option of wearing normal swimwear but the drawback is that it does not give any protection against sand and salt.

A swim nappy is designed in such a way that the results of small accidents can never get into the water. Their absorbent core is guaranteed not to burst out, and these swim nappies do not soak water. This way the sand and salty water will not leave your toddler’s skin irritated. Because of their design, swim nappies do not hold urine; they are built only to hold poop.

There are two types of swim nappies parents can choose from, disposable or reusable swim nappy. The disposable swim nappy comes in a package, and it can be thrown away after each usage, so it is very much like a normal disposable nappy. The difference is that disposable swim nappies don’t absorb water.

Reusable swim nappy resembles to ordinary bathing suit, allowing water to escape but stopping the solids. These nappies can be washed and reused, so if you are planning to swim or splash around in the water often, these can be the cheapest solution.
