Toddlers these days get used to swimming and splashing in water at a very young age, as families visit water theme parks, family clubs and beaches more and more often. Swimming at an early age is good: it builds confidence, and it is also great fun for the baby and the grown-ups alike. However, these days wearing a swim nappy is mandatory at every swim venue, because a small accident can cost a lot to the pool owners. If there is poop in the water, the pool has to be emptied and cleaned.

Therefore every baby up to the age of 3 has to wear a swim costume equipped with a swim nappy. This way there is no danger of nasty leaks into the pool. Everybody will be able to find a favorite swim nappy, as there are lots of swim costumes and swim nappies available for boys and girls, in every shape and style.

Basically you can choose from two types of swim nappies: the reusable and the disposable swim nappy. A reusable swim nappy is usually unisex and it is light and comfortable. It has polyester outer and cotton internal lining, and adjustable waist draw strings. It can be washed in the washing machine and used again. A disposable swim nappy has sides that can be torn away for easier removal. Its highly absorbent material is combined with swim leakage protection.

It is a good idea to check the size and weight fitting before you buy a swim nappy. If you have your baby around, try it on: this way you can also test how easily the swim nappy can be put on and taken off. This is very important especially when the nappy gets wet. It is quite a hassle to remove a wet up-and-down nappy, so nappies that can be unfastened or ripped open can be more practical.
